Our Founder

Lori

Widely recognized as one of the pioneers of modern maternity and newborn photography, Lori Dorman helped shape the industry into what it is today. For more than 20 years, she captured families throughout Southern California in her signature style of whimsical, emotionally rich portraiture, inspiring countless photographers and setting the standard for a generation of artists.

Her work has been sought after by celebrities, professional athletes, musicians, and families alike, all drawn to the timeless way she documents motherhood, babies, and family connection with authenticity, warmth, and artistry.

Lori’s journey began by supporting mothers as a professional doula. As a mother of two herself, she brings both personal experience and a deep understanding of pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum journey to her craft.

Lori also co-founded Earth Mama, a beloved company known for its natural and organic products supporting pregnancy and postpartum wellness, as well as Bellies Babies & Bosoms, a Los Angeles boutique dedicated to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. She later expanded her passion for maternal education with her childbirth method Hipbirth.

Today, Lori continues to play an active role in shaping the creative direction of Lori Dorman Photography, mentoring the artists she has trained and maintaining the elevated standards of artistry, service, and client care that have become synonymous with the LDP name. Her influence can be seen in every portrait, every experience, and every family who entrusts the studio with their most treasured memories.

Jasmin AKA "Jaz"

Jaz’s love for visual storytelling began at nine years old when she picked up her first camera. She went on to study both traditional art and film before spending nearly a decade designing sets for the film industry, where she developed her signature eye for light, composition, and beautiful details.

After joining Lori Dorman Photography almost 15 years ago, Jaz’s role evolved from photographer to General Manager, helping shape the client experience and creative vision of the studio. Today, she proudly serves as co-owner and GM while continuing to lead the photographers and capturing families through some of life’s most meaningful milestones.

As a mother of three daughters, Jaz is especially passionate about celebrating women through every stage of life. Drawing inspiration from fine art, fashion, nature, and genuine connection, she creates portraits that feel both timeless and deeply personal.

For Jaz, photography isn’t simply about documenting a moment—it’s about preserving the feeling of it long after it’s gone.

Drea

Drea dove right in to photography in 2014, specializing in families and events. She found her passion for photographing women in 2016, where she became obsessed with guiding ladies of all ages and body types to feel comfortable and empowered in front of the camera. She joined LDP as an assistant in 2019 and three years later jumped in as a photographer for maternity, cake smashes, and boudoir.

Photoshoots with Drea are full of “yes, girl!” energy and fun. She enjoys playing with children to get genuine smiles and will sing silly songs until their ears fall off. She loves to help mommas pose to get their most flattering angles and look their best on camera: “no double chins today!”

When she’s not in photographer mode, Drea is a mom and chauffer to two teenagers. Together they’re either exploring nature or driving all over SoCal for marching band competitions.

Melinna

With more than a decade behind the camera, Melinna specializes in creating timeless newborn portraits that celebrate the beauty of motherhood and the earliest days of a baby’s life.

As a mother of two, she understands firsthand how quickly these precious moments pass. Known for her calm, compassionate approach, Melinna creates a relaxed and welcoming experience where families feel comfortable, supported, and genuinely cared for. She is especially passionate about connecting with mothers and preserving the emotions, details, and connections that make each family’s story unique.

Warm, optimistic, and often accompanied by good music and an iced coffee, Melinna believes the most meaningful portraits happen when families feel free to simply be themselves.

Studio Manager

Michelle

As Studio Manager and Photo Selector at Lori Dorman Photography, Michelle bridges both the logistical and creative sides of the photoshoot experience. She coordinates the artistic team while also curating image selections on behalf of clients, always with their vision at the forefront.

With over a decade of experience in both photography and editing, Michelle brings a personal level of expertise when helping clients select their final images.

You can often find her swing dancing in Pasadena, roller-skating in Manhattan Beach, or at home cuddling her 2 Bengal kitties, Professor & Lil’ Ricky!

Lara, Vika, and Jackie make up our talented editorial team, bringing together their years of expertise in fine art retouching.
